4 Room Heritage House

A narrow & long heritage house along Jalan Kampung Hulu, Malacca. It is only a few minutes walk to the famous Jonker Street. The place still maintains most of its original taste, and nothing too much has been done.

 The place is suitable for parties, product launches, wedding functions, movie making or just a simple vacation staying.

It has 4 big rooms, one at the attic which kids will love.  Since it is an old house, most rooms do not have toilet built in, except for one which is on concrete floor.  You will get to try what living was like in the old days.  This house is still in most original state except for the toilets.

Wall partition is standard plywood type with space at the bottom/top to allow for ventilation.  So sound proof is at the worst.  Nonetheless this is the wisdom for natural cooling.

Eco Zen Villa
Situated in the same house, but at the rear of the house.  This is our first attempt at a totally green design.  It is Zen inspired & Green influenced.  It is simple yet soothing & calming.  The bathroom is in original condition, except that we hacked away the wall at the entrance door.  We are using curtain+door to cover, so it is not see through.  If you are sharing the room with friends and you are quite shy, it might be a problem.  Otherwise, it could be sexy or open for couple.

The villa has no air conditioner, and totally relies on good ventilation to cool.  At night it is very cooling to sleep, though might get a bit warm during noon time.  We have installed roof insulation, and it is very good now.

There is a low frequency humming noise coming on & off from the neighbor's air conditioner compressor.  For some, it is very disturbing, personally, I am not bothered.  We have made a pond with waterfalls, so it will have raining sound.  This will help censor some of the noise.  So, you are warned, and only pick this if noise is not an issue.  Some guests have slept with ear plug and were totally cool about it.  The feedback I have is, most asians cannot take it.

If someone has rented the house, you will need to access it from the back, through a Malay Kampung/Village.  You will need to walk pass some dark alley, but it is safe, and others who live in the Kampung are doing it on daily basis.
